WHAT IS UPLIFT?

SHiNE Dance Fitness has cracked the code to create a strength-training program that’s the perfect balance of effective and HELLA FUN! In fact, UPLIFT so much fun it turns fitness LOATHERS into LOVERS and LOVERS into ADDICTS. This is not a dance class, but each routine is choreographed to iconic music, and when safety isn’t compromised, you’re likely to find a booty shake or shimmy. 

A 1-hour UPLIFT class starts with a cardio warm-up and transitions to standing routines with equipment, alternating between upper and lower body. A balance track is included after you’ve fatigued your muscles which is challenging, rewarding, and a welcome change of pace before transitioning to the mat. We complete the workout with routines for the core, booty, abs, and chest and a cool down with deep stretching. This UPLIFTING experience leaves you feeling strong and confident. 

THE UPLIFT ROLLOUT PLAN

  • Uplift classes are now available for SHiNE Online members at no additional cost! 
  • Existing SHiNE Dance Fitness instructors have exclusive access to registration for UPLIFT instructor training ending 11/30/23.
  • Registration for UPLIFT instructor training opens December 1, 2023, for all other interested participants.
  • The first virtual UPLIFT training begins in January 2024 with up to 50 trainees. 
  • Our goal is to offer online trainings on a monthly basis. We don’t have plans to offer a live UPLIFT training at this time.

UPLIFT EQUIPMENT

A variety of equipment is used in UPLIFT to receive the benefits that each offers and keep the class engaging and fun. Branded bands and balls are available for purchase in the SHiNE Shop. Most items can also be found locally or through alternative online vendors.

    3 PAIRS OF DUMBBELLS 1-15 LBS (0.5-7 KG)

    Recommended for those new to strength training:

    • Light 1-3 lbs (0.5-1.5 kg) , Medium 3-5 lbs (1.5-2.5 kg), and Heavy 5-8 lbs (2.5-3.5 kg)

    Recommended for those experienced with strength training:

    • Light 1-5 lbs (0.5-2.5 kg), Medium 5-10 lbs (2.5-4.5 kg), and Heavy 10-15 lbs (4.5-7 kg)

    BANDS

    • Resistance bands – 2″/5 cm rubber loop
    • Booty bands – 3″/8 cm fabric loop

    If you’d prefer to invest in just one type of band, we recommend the resistance bands as they are slightly more versatile for this workout.

    We recommend a 9″/23 cm mini ball.

    MAT (OPTIONAL)

    We recommend a thicker mat for comfort, but any exercise mat will do!
