👋 Hello from Seattle! I teach six weekly classes, have been a SHiNE instructor since 2021, a dance fitness instructor since 2014, and AFAA certified since 2015. When I'm not teaching SHiNE, working as a social media consultant and content creator keeps me busy. I have a Master’s of Landscape Architecture and Plant Science undergraduate degree, am a twin sister, wife of 9 years, enthusiastic dog mom of 2 Cavalier Spaniels, a nature lover, and passionate about horticulture. I've participated in various group fitness classes since my teenage years and always gravitated toward the dance options. The community of SHiNE members and instructors brings immeasurable joy and motivation to be active! Bringing people together, creating a safe space to explore movement, seeing participants cut loose, be silly, sassy, and fierce with the all-around enjoyment and confidence that comes from SHiNE is just some of the magic the fuels me. I hope we get to experience it together soon!
Why I became a SHiNE/UPLIFT Instructor
I was burned-out after 7 years of putting a significant amount of time and effort into growing a new dance fitness community in LA, then the challenges of relocating back to Seattle, getting re-established, plus followed by a pandemic. The shutdowns allowed for free time to tune in to SHiNE's YouTube channel where the inspiring choreography and catchy music hooked me! When the fitness centers I taught at started exploring live streaming options and were planning how to re-open, I was ready but hesitant to try teaching something new. There are so many aspects that reaffirm why making the switch was the best decision ever. The like-ability and accessibility factor of SHiNE for facilities and participants continues to be outstanding. The various resources, tools, and marketing material are unlike anything I've experienced. I continue to be impressed by the organization's professionalism, safety standards, high-caliber leadership team, inclusivity, kindness, grace, and ability to create fantastic choreography each month!
